To start off March 2015, why don't we give some appreciation to one of the many hues of red, Maroon!
Today i'm going to do a drugstore makeup tutorial. Take note that i am not a professional makeup artist and this is how i do my own makeup so feel free to rearrange the steps your way.
*Also if you're a beginner in doing all these makeup thingies, make sure you know the basics first before you head on to this tutorial because i won't be giving a whole lot of details on each step.
PRODUCTS USED:
- Maybelline New York's Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Cake Powder (03 Natural)
- Avon's Personal Match Concealer Stick (natural)
- Dove's Blusher No. 8349
- Ever Bilena Advance Perfect Eyebrow
- Ever Bilena Mascara with Fiber
- Nichido Liquie Eyeliner
- Maybelline New York's Baby Lips (blue & pink one)
- Ever Bilena Lip Pencil (maroon red)
*eyeshadow isn't included above because i don't know what brand it was, just use any brand you like!
Apply the usual foundation you use that suits your skin tone. I used the Maybelline cake powder since i ran out of liquid. If you're going to go out with this look and don't want it to fade away, use a face primer first.
STEP 2: HIDE THE UNWANTED SPOTS.
Use your chosen concealer to erase those acne and other spots on your face. Apply it under your eyes in an upside down triangle shape for it helps that way as they say. After this step, set it with a second layer of powder so it stays put and doesn't get washed away.
You can do this step whenever you want. I just went straight to contouring and that was weird because i usually do it after applying everything. I used the brown eyeshadow as a bronzer which is also pretty useful if ya ran out of bronzer just like i did. If you don't know what contouring is, it is about highlighting and accentuating the best angles of your face. Look it up on Google if you don't know how.
I applied the brown eyeshadow on the bridges of my nose and my cheekbones. Do the fish face if you find it hard to locate your cheekbones.
STEP 4: BLUSH ON.
Make yourself look alive and less pale. Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks.
STEP 5: FILL IN YOUR EYEBROWS.
This is an important stage. It makes or breaks your whole look honestly, aside from eyeliner. Use an eyebrow pencil or an eyebrow mascara or just whatever you like using. Remember to always use a color 2 shades lighter if you have dark hair to make it look not too thick.
I applied a little concealer at the part where my eyebrows reach the bridge of my nose to give a faded effect. Also apply concealer at the bottom or your eyebrow and above to highlight it and make it be on fleek.
STEP 6: APPLY EYESHADOW.
For this look i am going to be doing a light smokey eye using the brown eyeshadow and the light pink eyeshadow. First, i do the crease using the brown eyeshadow.
Second, i do the middle part up until the corner of my eye using the light pink eyeshadow and just fix the smokiness with the way i want it to be and there you go.
STEP 7: FINISHING EYE TOUCHES. DO THE EYELINER AND APPLY MASCARA.
This is another important stage for this look. It is not easy doing the perfect winged eyeliner, so make sure you have a Q-tip/cotton bud beside you to fix your mistakes. If you accidentally wipe off your eyeshadow in fixing your mistakes, simply retouch.
Apply mascara. Curl your eyelashes first. You can use a volumizer if you want but if you are contented with a single coat then it's okay.
I used a lip pencil from Ever Bilena as said above in the products list. I also lightly pat the lip balm (Baby Lips) after to give an eensie weensie bit of shimmer and also because of my dry lips.
AND YOU'RE DONE!
This look is perfect for a night out or just basic and chill OOTDs. Post a photo on Instagram of you rocking this look with the tag #MaroonMarch for me to see what you guys did! I might feature it on my blog/ repost it ;)
